Quick Nantucket Family Visit

I took a quick three day trip to Nantucket & visited w/family.

Nantucket is an island is off the coast of Massachusetts.

The back yard at TerraTorrey:

I stayed at the Hodge's house.

Uncle Phil at Sankaty Head,

Aunt Leslie,

& my cousin, Megan.

Here are three short poems I wrote while traveling in Asia in April:

//--

friends, rusty tractors
asleep in warm grass. other friends,
all old cars & one blue
truck, with a bent nose gearshift,
some white flowers on the sticky leather,
empty, passenger seat.

//--

a secret chicken stalks tigers in the rain forest.
trees crash down. is it an elephant? no, a clumsy chicken.

//--

bugs.

insect love,
jelly-sweet blood.
brittle, twitching sex. the pitch, pinching, a harmonic.
float away dazzled in beams of sunlight
and hungry, land in a German boy's hair--
suck the color from his blue eyes.

think, "forward."
many legs shuttle me efficiently.
I don't sweat even in this heat
and rain bounces off my shell in a pleasing way.
I just became part of a stone.
